Hi! I'm currently working on a 2D narrative driven platformer that teaches diffident gamers how to trust their emotions and have faith in themselves, through Light and Shadow mechanics.
You play as Matilda, a stoic, inflexible, and reserved girl dwelling with her free-spirited best friend Faith, in a post apocalytic desolate realm. One day however, she goes missing, and Matilda goes on an ardous journey to find her. The catch however, is that Matilda is severely hindered and hurt when exposed to light, and as a result has to move through the shadows in search of Faith.
The game features a simple array of expressive movement controls which flow into one another. Players will master the movement as they traverse the land, and immerse themselves in the narrative.
This Devlog talks about how I rebuilt the game in our team's custom proprietary engine called Plushie Engine, and what I've learnt. This is a part of a DigiPen Institute of Technology Project Module (GAM200/UXG2400) with a team of 4 programmers and 1 artist, along with myself, the solo designer.
