Indie Devlog #1. The beginning of our indie game devlog journey here at Voyager. Today's video is the introduction of our lofi rollerblading indie game called Miszou. Miszou will is a 2.5D Unity Game which mixes lofi, rollerblading and the feeling you get when you watch a Studio Ghibli film. Our gaming studio consists of a small group of game developers with the dream of creating games. But what inspired our indie game devlog voyage? Well as developers ourselves, we understand that devlog videos are helpful to all aspiring designers. We essentially want to provide educational content on game development, unity tutorials and C# programming that we wish we had access to when we began our dev voyage. Miszou will be developed with multiple programs, such as Unity engine, Maya Autodesk, Photoshop 2022, Zbrush, 3D Coat and Blender. This will be apart of voyager studios Miszou Devlog series so stay tuned! For any recommendations on future content, please comment down below. Also don't forget to subscribe! Thanks guys! Script: Beginning of our Lofi Rollerblading Game | Miszou Devlog 1 (Key Points) - Introduction to Miszou as a lofi rollerblading game that took inspiration from Olli Olli World. - We identified a lack of rollerblading games in the gaming industry and in particular, games with a lofi aesthetic. - Miszou is a 2.5D colourful lofi rollerblading game where you compete to be the best skater in the world of Fishbowl. - Fishbowl is a city in the world of Miszou. - We wanted to incorporate that feeling you get watching a Ghibli film with the flow and feel of rollerblading and lofi. - The soundtrack and art of this game will heavily focus on the sea theme within lofi. We will also incorporate lofi music to make it feel authentic and appeal to lofi audiences. - Some of the games concepts originally started with research, which was essential to establishing the world of Miszou. - Once we identified the goal in this devlog, we began with character art and character customisation. - These drawings were based on our target audience, and a lot of the game is targeted for young adults. - We want the gamer to customise their character in any way. This is to appeal to our audience, and dressing your character in cool clothes is something a lot of games miss the opportunity for. - We searched up skater costumes in order for us to identify an authentic image for characters creation. - Now that we had a main character archetype it was time to develop NPC’s. So far we’ve only decided on the mentor figure, Sea Dog. He’s a wise old rollerblader that fills the fatherly role in our indie game and with his experience he guides you through the toughest of times. - The goal is to have Lofi vibes everywhere you go in Miszou - With a lot of ocean influence, we have the beginnings of a world full of life with lots of nature and that really seems to be what Lofi is all about. - Pink tones are seen throughout many Lofi paintings and will have a strong thread throughout the game. - Fishbowl is one of four of the floating worlds you get to explore in Miszou. Fishbowl is the city turtle where most people reside. We really loved this concept as we felt it was unique within the igame dev and world. - Throughout the prototyping phase, we first listed out various fun and over the top mechanics which would fit right into what makes rollerblading the enjoyable sport that it is. - Our main focus was to make sure everything had a flow by making the mechanics feel as connected to the world as possible through the player’s movements. - After creating a Game design document covering the core mechanics and controls we then cut it down into what we believed would work best for a prototype. - Using mixamo, we took the rigged XBOT and made basic animations to test our prototype while our programmer Ivan was working on the code. We added animations of Grinds, Movement, Tricks, jumping and created a playable prototype. - So far the gameplay is fun, fast paced and with some tweaking, we can make it a super fun and enjoyable game. - Next is to add some environment models to get a feel for the world. So Scott got to work and began modelling some of the assets we have concepted. - We will be creating a kickstarter soon. #indiegame #Devlog #gaming #games #gamedev
