I turned my favourite game Terraria into a 3D fame, and NO its not Minecraft. I have 7spent hundreds of hours in the game Terraria, playing the game, completing all the achievements, I've done it all. And this week I was kind of bored and thought to myself what if it was a 3D game ? I know this was probably done before, but I wanted to see what I could make. As per usual with these types of videos, I don't want to spend weeks making a game that I will probably play once. So everything you see here was created in only 48 hours. Enjoy :)

I took on the challenge of turning Terraria into a full 3D game from scratch, covering everything from player movement to world generation, ore spawning, trees, background art, skyboxes, and even enemy AI. The first step was creating smooth player movement to match the feel of Terraria, followed by implementing a procedurally generated world with layered terrain, underground caves, and natural features. Ore generation was a key part of making the game feel authentic, so I ensured that different materials like iron and gold spawned at varying depths. Trees were also crucial, so I set up a system to generate them naturally across the world, complete with physics-based chopping mechanics. To bring the game to life, I added background and skybox art, making sure to capture the distinct feel of Terraria’s biomes in a 3D space. Bunnies were next on the list, with a fully functioning AI system that lets them hop around randomly, just like in the original game. Then came the tools and mining mechanics, allowing players to break and collect blocks, shaping the world dynamically. Finally, I created the Eye of Cthulhu boss fight, programming its movement, attack phases, and overall challenge to make it feel just as intense in 3D as it does in the original 2D version. This project was a massive undertaking, and I learned a lot throughout the process. Let me know in the comments what you think—should Terraria 2 be 3D? And what features should I add next?
